My bedroom is furnished in Wiener Werkstatte style

My bedroom is furnished with a kind size bed made by BDDW from solid walnut.

The mattress (which I love) is by Duxiana. The headboard is custom upholstered with an antique afghan prayer rug with a brown and auburn geometric pattern.

I have two antique side tables in the Wiener Werkstatte style. They are mahogany with a high polish.

I have two Jielde French industrial lamps, one on each table. I have a large mirror with a solid walnut frame made by Hudson Furniture.

There is an antique two-tier barrister bookcase to which I have added cabinet lights and filled with antique books and a collection of Swedish pottery and an African headrest.

There is a lounge chair by Christian Liagre for Holly Hunt in a curry colored leather in the corner with a bronze floor lamp for reading next to it.

At the foot of the bed there is a bench called the “Freud Bench” also by Christian Liagre for Holly Hunt. The carpet is a wool Tibetan in strutted chocolate brown. Opposite the bed is a 50in plasma TV and below that a rosewood cabinet of my own design which contains DVD players and cable box. Read more »

Furniture outlet The Dump, Dallas, Texas

A furniture outlet store was on my agenda when going shopping for a new bed with a friend. We wound up going to “The Dump” located in Dallas, Texas, United States.

We didn’t wind up finding anything that she loved so no purchase was made on that day. The prices were fairly reasonable on most things though, just nothing fit into her needs and tastes.

No specific brands were really searched for during this outing. We just needed a general bed and price meant more than a name brand even though there were plenty of them to be had in this furniture outlet.

We were met with very friendly service when we were in the outlet which was nice. The salespeople were helpful without being pushy. We wound up wandering throughout the entire store after we finished looking at the beds. Read more »

The Dump furniture store on Brook Road in Richmond, Virginia

My fiancé and I recently bought a house together and had the daunting task of merging our belongings from two apartments into our new home.

Both of us had been married before and neither one of us had anything that was very good, so quite a few pieces of furniture ended up in the trash or being donated to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

So when we finally moved into our new house, we were in need of two reclining chairs, an area rug and two bookcases. Since we were on a budget, we scoured newspaper ads for sales and went into some of the higher end stores just to get an idea of what they were selling and their overall prices.

We also were able to rule out certain styles of furniture, since they were not suitable for our new home. I had been listening to the radio and kept hearing commercials for a store called “The Dump.”

It touted itself as a furniture shopper’s bargain paradise, with closeouts and one-of-a-kind deals at unbelievable prices. It was located in an area of town I didn’t normally travel to and it was also only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Read more »

It is in Fort Lawn, South Carolina in the United States. It actually just opened. They opened this in an old textile mill that went out of business.

Wow is a huge place that covers 14 acres and there are so many things to chose from. I actually did not purchase anything because I want to look around a little more. Read more »
