The best way to set up a living room is to make solve the problems that your family has
We are a young family. We live in an area that although the cost of living may be considered low compared to the rest of the country, that cost of living is higher than many of the areas of this state.
As a result, we have a small house. Two adults and two kids need to be able to function together peacefully in this space. We have a long living, narrow living room. This is the only space for entertainment, home office, and playroom in the house.
We have a mix of old and new in this space. We have an old pull-out couch. This piece comes in handy when we have guests. It is brown with different tones of brown stripes in a cable pattern.
To prevent too much attention drawn to the cable couch, we’ve covered it with a neutral beige cover. When we don’t have guests, this has become a place for me to do laundry.
Next to the couch, we have a clunky, out of date TV in an entertainment center. Next to that is the time-out chair. This comes in handy to be sure that our two boys are learning to behave and become productive citizens of the world.
The next feature in our living room is the star attraction. This is the main couch. We have chosen a sectional. It serves two purposes. It is positioned to provide a barrier between the main living room space and the home office space.
It provides enough seating for the whole family, but does not take up awkward amounts of space. Again, the color is beige. We have painted the walls forest green and the furniture is brown/beige.
This is comfortable room to relax in. We have two lamps on either side of the couch. One has reading lamp attached. They were purchased cheaply at Wal-Mart, but light up the room and are good looking.
Then onto the office space, this space is very utilitarian. The list is as follows: one multi-tiered computer desks, two file cabinets and a plant. This living room is very popular among our immediate family and extended family.
When originally moving into this house, we had problems finding a way to function. We have solved that problem by becoming functional and comfortable. The best way to set up a living room is to make solve the problems that your family has.
