We match the spectrum not the exact colors in our living room furniture

My living room is huge. My house was built in the sixties, so everything is out dated, except my living room. I have a gas fire place, a flat screen plasma, the works.

I have two nice leather chairs, a tan sofa, and a huge coffee table. My mom arranged it, and she does not believe that furniture should ever be lined against a wall, so we have it all diagonal facing the TV.

My mother and I live with my grandmother who LOVES her stuff. So we could not buy anything new. We had to use her old, nasty stuff to decorate. Just like everything in our house, it is old.

I am amazed everyday how good my mom makes it look. If you can stay with a neutral color and match it with other pieces of furniture it looks great.

For example we have two dark brown leather chairs, a tan sofa, red rug, wood tables, a gold chandelier, antiqued lights, so basically every piece is in the brown spectrum.

We don’t choose colors that are the exact same color, but we do match the spectrum. It feels cozy, and looks great. If anyone wants to buy furniture for their living room they should make sure to do the same, the result is amazing.
